Raku variations course
Learn this ancient Japanese technique, exploring all its most modern variations, where the interaction with the fire is live and hands-on, as each student removes their pieces from the kiln when they are glowing red-hot.

The course lasts 5 days and is held in the town of Albelda, in the province of Huesca. Accommodation is available for those who wish to stay overnight. Please inquire about availability.

In 2026, only one edition of this course will be offered, from August 24th to 28th (inclusive, 5 days total).
Course location
The course will take place in my workshop, the place where I make my pieces: Calle Cami De La Creu, 5, Albelda.22558 province of Huesca.
Here you will find light and work environment. The ideal place to work and train yourself. You will have enough space to investigate, relax and learn how to use the terras sigillatas.
Do you need accommodation?
For all the people who want to stay overnight in Albelda, I offer an independent apartment in the same building where the course takes place. Subject to availability.
Optionally, you can book a room for an extra supplement per night. The apartment has a total capacity of 5 people, consists of 3 single rooms and one double room.
The price per night for the single rooms is 40€, the price for the shared room is 30€.
Course objectives
To acquire knowledge about the different characteristics and types of work in Raku, and the subsequent development of decorative techniques.
More specifically:
- Introduction to the process of making pieces and glazes, and preparation of everything necessary for the different Raku techniques.
- Knowledge and development of decorative techniques: resist, crackle, smoking, sgraffito, glazes, and brushwork.
- Knowledge, setup, and evaluation of a simple kiln, with all the necessary accessories.
- Knowledge and development of firing techniques: oxidation, reduction-carbonation.
Course Program:
- Preparation of pieces for the course, and subsequent bisque firing.
- Preparation of glazes: transparent, opaque, metallic, and crackle glazes.
- Preparation and development of the fugitive copper technique.
- Preparation and development of the Obvara technique.
- Preparation and development of the Naked Raku technique.
- Crackle techniques with glazes.
- Preparation and development of smoking techniques with glazes, or directly on the clay patina.
- Knowledge and demonstration of a Raku kiln and all its accessories.

My name is Miguel Molet and I welcome you to my website.I can say that I have spent my whole life dedicated to ceramics, both in production and training.During this time I have specialized in different techniques and disciplines, including of course the potter’s wheel.
